Fingerprints was originally composed for the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group (BCMG), and takes its inspiration from the singular and irreproducible character of a fingerprint. Although fingerprints can be broadly classified into recurring patterns—arches, loops and whorls—no two fingerprints are ever the same.
